I wish it were that
simple.
During the past months, a
few bystanders have said, “The County
will do whatever they want, they don’t listen to citizens, no one can stop them
– there’s no reason for me to get involved.”
Oh, that is so wrong!
The first battle with
Snohomish County and their minions has happened… and they did not “win. We won
the battle.
On Wednesday, June 19th, the Snohomish County Hearing
Examiner ruled that he does not have jurisdiction to hear the SEPA appeals. In
his Order Regarding Jurisdiction, the Hearing Examiner agreed with our position
that the “Notice of Action was improperly used”.
What that means: The Department of Parks and Rec
screwed-up.
And now, the Department of Parks and Rec has to re-set,
go back to the beginning and devise another plan for exerting their development
plans on the Good People of Wellington Hills, Woodinville and their Wellington
Hills Park.
Bottom line … People can
make a difference.
But it ain’t easy.
Neighbors to Save Wellington Park has committed to a legal battle with Snohomish
County. And, before you ask, yes,
we’ve tried many times to talk with County people about their plans – and the
County Council has consistently remained at arm’s length, essentially refusing
to engage in meaningful dialog. Others in the County have simply lied to us.
If you want to help stop the over-development of
Wellington Hills… and the Park, now is a good time to step-up.
